It's been so long since I've posted on this. I'm so sorry. I'm usually posting on my personal blog. Anyways, I've been deep in the knee with wedding planning these days. With about 3 weeks to go, I'm beginning to resemble a chicken running around with no head.

Recently, we took our engagement photos by the oh-so-wonderful Scott Robert Lim. Scott was the 2nd vendor we book early on in our engagement. First vendor being our venue, ofcourse. I remember us being so excited to have booked him and couldn't wait to work with him. It was through one of my sorority sisters, FozzieK6, that I came into contact with Scott. She showed me his website and I just fell in love. Instantly.

Well, without further adieu, let me show you some of the teaser pics he has posted on his blog. We took the first half of our session at the Union Train Station and then we went off to The Standard hotel and to the Central Library for some outdoor sunny shots.

Boo. It's raining. I hate it when it rains b/c I'm a full blooded flip flop girl. If I could get away with it, I would totally wear my flip flops in the rain. But, slipping and falling gets in the way. Heh.

Anyways, remember these? The infamous banana clips. I totally rocked these back in the day with my spiral perm. Hah. They were the shiz. I remember, a couple of years ago seeing someone sporting one of these and was like, " oh no, she didn't!" But, then I fondly remembered instantly how I enjoyed wearing these in my hair.

Well, it appears that they may be making a slight comeback. I saw these at Target and without a hesitation, scooped one up. Hah! We shall see if I even go out with it. I just had to get it for nostalgic purposes.

I found a cool website. It's called the bride's cafe. They have some inspiring wedding pictures. My favorite is the Ann + Brent's story book wedding blog. Such a pretty wedding. Oh! and you can't forget about the shoe shots. What is with it and shoe shots? It just makes you want to go and purchase some cool looking shoes for this one particular shot.... wouldn't you agree?

Single. + Guest. Family.

I hope everyone had a FANTABULOUS Thanksgiving. I sure did! I got to spend it with my family which is always a blessing to do, not to mention eat over and over. Ain't I suppose to be on a diet?!?

I have to admit though, it was a bit lonely this year because my grandma to whom I was so close with passed away in August.... and so we weren't able to share Thanksgiving with her. But, since we all shared our memories about her with one another, it gave me comfort.

Moving on with wedding business....

I remember receiving tons of wedding invitations that had an inner envelope stating the names of the people invited, tissue paper in between, confetti, well not maybe confetti, but my point is, it was like a production just to open up one couple's wedding invitation. Would you agree?

So, I knew I didn't want an inner envelope, BUT because I'm Asian, most specifically, Filipino, I know how my relatives can be sly and assume that their whole extended family is invited, especially if I put on the outer envelope and family after Mr. & Mrs. Yeah---NO! Not happening at my wedding...or so at least I hope it won't happen.

I think I came up with a cute idea on how to tell my guests who specifically is invited. I am placing a chartreuse colored band made out of cardstock around my invitation, then stringing a brown colored thread around it and looping a little name tag onto the thread--and voila, here's my pseudo inner envelope folks!

Please ignore the yucky leftover white paper underneath the tag. I was experimenting on end with pseudo inner envelope's.

What do you guys think? Is it awful? A good to go pkg. deal?

The details.
well some. I'm in the midst of planning out my table names + menu's + programs . My old coworker is a graphic designer on the side and she offered to design whatever I want. Sweet! It will save me a ton of money... ehh, probably not a ton, but some--perhaps $0.50 or so.

I've decided to carry out my wedding invitation design. If you don't recall my save the date design, here they are...

My wedding invite's will be the same design, except it will be brown, not green. Love brown! So, for my table names + menu's, I'll be incorporating the same design. Here's a faux idea of what the general look will be...

Sloppy Joe's.
I've never been a fan of sloppy joe's. My mom used to make them all the time, too, while growing up. Ick. I would always pass on the hot lunch days that served sloppy joe's too. The funny thing is, Gordon is huge fan of the sloppy joe. I really don't know why. What's so fascinating about them?

Well, I was perusing Allrecipe.com and saw that the recipe of the week was a Sloppy Joe. Had I not seen the picture of the food item, I probably would have overlooked it. But, when I saw the picture of the sloppy joe, I honestly began to drool. The thing actually looked good! So good, that I went to the grocery store and bought my ingredients and made it! True to what the picture looked like, it was really good!

This is the picture I took when I made it. I bought Kaiser rolls for the bun. I don't mess with the sesame seed hamburger buns like how my Mom used to make them. Ick.

I placed them in Kaiser rolls. I didn't mess with placing them in the old skool hamburger buns like my mom used to do. Ick.

Here's the recipe if you want to try it.

I did modify it based on a reviewer. Instead of placing 3/4C ketchup, I placed 2/3C ketchup and 1/4C bbq sauce. I also added a few drops of worcertshire sauce too. It was so yummy!!!!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 3 teaspoons brown sugar
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion, and green pepper; drain off liquids.
  2. Stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly. Reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
